Prompt engineering is the design and testing of instructions, context, examples and output format to get reliable, consistent output from an AI model.

- The necessary context and sources are provided.
- The expected output format and constraints are stated.
- Examples are added when needed.
- Results are tested on real examples and the instruction is improved.

- Department-specific prompt libraries

Points to watch
- A good prompt reduces errors but does not guarantee accuracy (Hallucination).
- A prompt is not a security boundary; malicious content may try to change the instructions (prompt injection), so permissions must be limited separately.
- When the model changes, prompts may need to be re-tested.
